3 Minor Tankless Water Heater Problems

A tankless water heater can slice as much as 35% off your annual water heating utility bill. While it’s great to know you always have a nice, hot shower waiting for you when you get home from work in Newnan, GA, tankless water heaters can develop minor issues from time to time. Read on to learn about the three most common tankless water heater problems and what do about each of them.

1. Mineral Deposits in Tankless Water Heater

If you have hard water in your home, then your tankless water heater is eventually going to end up with some mineral buildup. This buildup isn’t fatal to your system, but it can impair your heater’s function if you don’t address the issue. Annual maintenance by a knowledgeable technician will address this issue.

2. Inconsistent Water Temperatures

When you have a tankless water heater that’s working properly, your water will get hot and stay hot for as long as you need it to. If you’re overloading your unit’s work capacity by running too many different appliances at once, however, then your water will probably go back and forth between very hot and way too cold as the heater struggles to keep up. This usually happens only if you run multiple faucets, showers, baths or outdoor appliances at the same time.

3. Blocked Vent Pipes

If your water heater has a blocked air supply, then it can develop combustion problems. In the most extreme cases, these combustion issues can cause some downstream issues with your pipes. Therefore, you’ll want to make sure you have your water heater installed far away from any animal nests or other potential obstructions, and that you schedule regular preventative maintenance to ensure your system is always at its best.
