4 Ways to Lower HVAC Costs This Spring

Spring is in full swing in Fayetteville, Georgia, and that means it’s time to ready your home for months of warm weather. Just because cooling season is here doesn’t mean you have to overspend on air conditioning costs. From changing your air filter to scheduling preventive maintenance, use these tips to keep HVAC costs low this spring.

Change the Air Filter

Replacing your air conditioner or heat pump’s air filter might seem like a relatively small step to take, but it can have a big impact on your indoor air quality and your cooling costs. Change the air filter every 30 days during the cooling season, and you’ll help your HVAC system run more efficiently. That means lower electricity bills and greater comfort for your family.

Adjust the Thermostat

When you switch your smart thermostat over to cooling mode, update the device’s settings, too. Set the temperature to 78 degrees during the periods of time when your family is usually home and awake. Program the temperature to increase to 86 degrees whenever you’re out for the day, and get ready to pay much less in utility costs throughout the season.

Schedule Preventive Maintenance

At Trinity Air Heating & Air Conditioning, we recommend that you schedule preventive HVAC maintenance in the early spring. By doing so, you’ll ensure that your air conditioner runs efficiently, identify necessary repairs before they escalate, and prevent expensive breakdowns. Regular tuneups could also extend the life of your HVAC system, which helps you save over time.

Ready the Ceiling Fans

Not ready to turn on your air conditioner to its usual summer settings yet? Rather than opening the windows and welcoming pollen and high humidity, turn on your ceiling fans instead. Switch fans to operate in a counterclockwise direction, and you can set the HVAC thermostat several degrees higher without compromising comfort.
